Enrollment

We enroll children from 6 weeks through 12 years old, offering programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.

Our centers are open Monday through Friday. Each location has different hours:

York: Plymouth Road - 6:30am-5:45pm

York: Pleasant Acres - 6:00am - 5:00pm

Jacobus: 7:00am - 5pm

Millersville: 6:30am - 5:30pm

Middletown: 6:30am - 5:30pm

We provide morning and afternoon snack at all of our locations. We provide lunch at Plymouth Road, Pleasant Acres, and Middletown. Lunches have to be packed at the Jacobus and Millersville locations.

Children with allergies are closely monitored, and our staff is trained in allergy awareness and emergency response. We work with families to develop individualized plans for safe meals and activities.

We follow the state-approved FunnyDaffer curriculum, which supports all areas of early childhood development through hands-on, play-based learning. FunnyDaffer is a Keystone Stars approved curriculum.

Our facilities have secure entry systems, staff trained in CPR and first aid, daily, and strict cleaning and sanitizing routines. We also conduct regular safety drills.

We follow or exceed Pennsylvania’s licensing requirements for teacher-to-child ratios, ensuring every child gets the attention and care they deserve.

Yes! Weather permitting, children have daily outdoor playtime to enjoy fresh air and build gross motor skills.

We use Brightwheel, a secure and user-friendly parent communication app, to send daily updates, photos, messages, and important announcements. This keeps families informed and connected to their child’s day.

Yes, we proudly accept ELRC (Early Learning Resource Center) funding to help families access affordable, high-quality care.

Some of our classrooms do have waitlists due to high demand. We recommend contacting us early to reserve your spot.

We partner with families to make potty training a positive and successful experience. At Small Steps Early Learning Center, we begin working on potty training when children are around two years old and showing readiness signs. Our teachers use encouragement, consistency, and a child-centered approach, ensuring routines at school align with what’s being done at home for a smooth transition.

Yes! We provide safe and reliable transportation for school-age children to and from select local schools.

• Plymouth Road Location – Yorkshire Elementary, East York Elementary, Valley View Elementary, Ore Valley Elementary, and Locust Grove Elementary.

• Pleasant Acres Location – Stony Brook Elementary and North Hills Elementary.

• Millersville Location – Eshleman Elementary School.

All vehicles meet state safety requirements, and our drivers are trained and certified to ensure every child arrives safely and on time.

Yes! All of our locations participate in Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS Quality Rating and Improvement System. Our Plymouth Road and Pleasant Acres locations have achieved the highest possible rating of STARS 4. Our other locations are currently rated STARS 1 and are actively working toward achieving a STARS 3 or 4 rating through continuous improvement in curriculum, teacher training, and program quality.
