Fun & Creativity

Art

At Small Steps Early Learning Center, art is more than just a creative outlet—it's a vital part of early learning. Through painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting, children explore self-expression, develop fine motor skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. Our art activities are open-ended and process-focused, allowing children to make choices, solve problems, and express their unique perspectives in meaningful ways.

Music

Music plays an important role in early childhood development at Small Steps Early Learning Center. Through singing, rhythm games, movement, and instrument play, children build language skills, coordination, and self-expression. Music is woven into our daily routines and also explored through structured activities that support listening, memory, and cultural awareness. Whether it’s a quiet lullaby or a lively dance song, music brings joy, connection, and learning to every classroom.

Movement

At Small Steps Early Learning Center, we understand that movement is essential for growing bodies and developing minds. Our movement activities include dance, stretching, yoga, outdoor play, and structured gross motor games that help children build strength, coordination, balance, and confidence. Daily opportunities for active play support focus, emotional regulation, and overall wellness—helping children feel their best so they can learn their best.

Language

Language development is a cornerstone of our curriculum at Small Steps Early Learning Center. From infant coos to preschool storytelling, we nurture communication at every stage through rich conversations, read-alouds, songs, and vocabulary-building activities. Our teachers model expressive language, encourage active listening, and create environments where children feel confident to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. These early language experiences lay the foundation for strong literacy skills and lifelong learning.

Mathematics

At Small Steps Early Learning Center, we make math meaningful by connecting it to everyday experiences. Children explore numbers, patterns, shapes, and problem-solving through hands-on activities like counting games, building with blocks, measuring ingredients, and sorting objects. Our approach fosters curiosity, logical thinking, and a strong number sense—all while making learning fun. Early math skills are introduced in developmentally appropriate ways that build confidence and prepare children for future academic success.

Outside Play

We believe that outdoor play is essential for healthy development. At Small Steps Early Learning Center, children enjoy daily time outside to run, climb, explore, and connect with nature. Outdoor play supports gross motor skills, social development, and overall well-being. Whether it’s a structured game or open-ended exploration, our playgrounds and outdoor spaces give children the freedom to move their bodies, build friendships, and discover the world around them—rain or shine (with proper gear, of course)!
