Philosophy

Our Philosophy

At Small Steps Early Learning Center, we believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive—one small step at a time. Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that early childhood is a critical period of development, and it is our responsibility to support each child’s unique journey with compassion, intention, and care.

We view children as capable, curious individuals and we encourage exploration, creativity, and confidence through hands-on learning experiences. Our approach combines structured educational foundations with the freedom for children to learn through play, discovery, and meaningful relationships.

Our Core Values

1. Safety First - Children’s physical and emotional safety is our highest priority. We maintain clean, secure, and welcoming environments where children feel protected and valued.

2. Respect for All - We honor the diversity of every child, family, and staff member. Inclusion, equity, and respect are woven into the fabric of our classrooms and our culture.

3. Growth Through Play - Play is the foundation of learning. We design our curriculum to inspire creativity, encourage exploration, and promote critical thinking at every age and stage.

4. Family Partnership - We view families as essential partners in a child’s success. Through open communication, transparency, and shared goals, we work hand-in-hand with parents and caregivers.

5. Excellence in Care and Education - We strive for excellence in everything we do—from the quality of our curriculum and care to the professionalism and passion of our educators.

6. Lifelong Learning - We are a community of learners. Our educators engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices and foster a love for learning in every child.

Health & Safety

At Small Steps Early Learning Center, the health and safety of every child in our care is our top priority. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel secure, families feel confident, and learning can flourish without interruption.

We follow strict health and safety protocols that meet or exceed all state licensing regulations and best practices in early childhood education. From daily sanitizing routines to secure entry systems, our team takes every precaution to ensure a safe and healthy space.

Our Health & Safety Commitments Include:

✔ Secure Facilities - All of our centers are equipped with locked entryways, monitored access, and child-safe equipment. Visitors must be verified and escorted at all times.

✔ Clean, Sanitized Spaces - Classrooms, bathrooms, toys, and shared surfaces are cleaned and sanitized multiple times throughout the day.

✔ Trained Staff - All staff are trained in pediatric CPR, first aid, emergency preparedness, and safe sleep practices. Ongoing professional development ensures our team stays up to date on the latest health and safety standards.

✔ Emergency Preparedness - We maintain detailed emergency plans and conduct regular fire, lockdown, and weather-related drills to ensure staff and children are prepared and confident in any situation.

✔ Nutritious Meals & Allergy Awareness - We provide healthy, balanced meals and snacks and accommodate children with allergies or dietary restrictions. Food safety and allergy protocols are strictly followed.

✔ Partnership with Families - We communicate openly with families about illnesses, incidents, and safety concerns. We encourage parents to keep us informed and work collaboratively to keep all children safe.

Your child’s well-being is not just a priority—it’s a promise.
